ghosts in somali folklore

I was looking at the historical dictionary by mohamed haji mukhtar that @Idilinaa refrnced. When I got the to H section there was an entry on ghost called hedo or hetho and je he describes the diffrent parts of the soul. The outer soul can apparently become a ghost in the shape of a walking or flying skeleton. 💀. It's crazy that I've neve heard about this before. In fact I think I read a jstor article about somali folklore that says somalis don't have a concept of ghosts. Has anybody heard about this hedho or have folklore or poetry about it ?

I grew up with storytelling, I remember a few, I won't mention the typical ones.

The 2 girls, that their father abandoned in the woods after he got remarried, one was smart the other dumb, they eventually found a cave that a monster lived in.
The flying creature that would take one sacrifice from the village, it sounded like a Pterodactyl to me.

The historical dictionary that he wrote not only deals with history. It's basically a bibliography all sorts of stuff cultural beliefs/practices, phrases, words, towns, institutions, streets, dates, organizations, people, clans etc

Haven't read the whole book so can't say i am familiar with what you are referring to,( not really interested in the paranormal) but i do sometimes use it more or less to look up stuff if i come cross something just like a dictionary.

I didn't reference his dictionary in the other thread though, when talking about Jabarti people. I referenced an Ethiopian scholarly one. This is what i told you to click on: -----> Miniature Empires: A Historical Dictionary of the Newly

When i said this in the other thread:
I presume they are a minority among the Muslims there but that's what i read click on the Historical dictionary i linked to it.
