Can any random person just buy and own them? Are there restrictions? For example some cities or gobols don't allow while others do?

Just wondering considering all the fuss in the US about gun laws.

In Somaliland, it's only a problem if you don't have a permit for it! You can buy & own a gun but you have to register it

It's way looser than say America, government would overlook your gun possession look at how many Qabil A vs Qabil B skirmishes we get each year

That'd give you a slight idea

Two experiences

At my stay in Boosaso, no one other than the local police where armed. The thugs around the area just had pocket knives. Obviously some people might have weapons in their homes, but the majority didn't possess weapons.

Galkayo, was a whole different story. Most of the people where armed with weapons, I don't know the situation now, I'm talking about 3-4 years ago. I witnessed a man take out a UZI, out of his trouser and enter Dahabshill. The security guard, had a box full of weapons under him, you weren't allowed to enter a building with weapons.

In the US, there's companies that manufacture the guns, so it's easy to get hold of one. However in Somalia, it's mainly AK's which are shipped, so if the government tightens the security of imports, then there will be less ammunition which will result to the disarmament of people.

Beynaale. My ayeyo before she died RIP had a AK in her house. She had no permit

You don't need a permit. every house has weapons back home. We had few AK 47 and pistols and used to go shooting outside the city. It is illegal to carry in public though

Kkkkkkkkkkkk there was big gun fight in Mohamed Mooge in 2008 when criminal youth started shooting at people I do not know when the water purification tank was being sent to Burco. They wanted it for themselves. It was supposed to rotate to different cities and was paid for by Kuwaitis.

I hid under my bed in case any bullets came inside the house. Somalilanders are very violent. They were using AKs

I thought you talking about where decent humans lives, waar Somalia and waqoyi galbed both are shit whole place. No development close 3 decade, no education and health system. There are no value for human lives in these area, maybe tomato are more expensive. Almost everyone got a gun, you argue with someone he/she going home to get a gun and shoot you. That is it.
NB. I love my country but headless chicken politicians took over the admin and make the country fuckt up.
