Guys need your Brotherly/sisterly road trip advice

if you travel to near NYC with your female and a little infant on a road trip from Ohio ( We are visiting a relative who is visiting NYC but is leaving 2 days later and we will have another 2 days to ourselves) and you don't want to be in NYC but in little towns with rivers and lakes and natural beauty can that is on the road back to Ohio ans not that far from NYC ( even 1 and half hour is ok).

I dare you find it for me.

Preferably any town/lakes near I-78 ( motorway/freeway )

Or any other suggestion other than entering that overrated consumer hedonistic capitalistic city of Manhattan would be appreciated.

Anyways I'm sure you won't find a small town within 1 hour of NYC. I'm sure you wouldn't even be able to leave the same borough in an hour.

But guess what?..

I found a nice 5 star hotel at Montclair, NJ....which means ..I can go to little Bangladesh for lunch and for dinner to the Arab enclave of Paterson, NJ..

Then I can stroll down the boardwalk at long beach where I can look into the distance at the Atlantic Ocean ...what do you think ?
