MSB promoted tribalism and nepotism to the highest level during his prime, funny thing is his Kacaan supreme leaders claimed Sharmarke's government was a qabiil based administration and went around and made his tribe the guardians of his regime favoring them over others.

If a more cultured modern leader took control of somalia today the region would have been a different place. Atleast for somalia as for somaliland we should have never joined them in the first place. Homogenous crap doesn't work cause we really have little similarities with them.

do you know how many times in modern history some villager became the leader of a country? Mao Zedong was from a family of farmers from some village because of rising in ranks in the government he sooner lead china. But these type of unrefined lowly people always cause disaster Mao caused the death of millions of his people and severe poverty. Untill better educated people took power like Deng Xiaoping who is from a proper family and nobility. Deng made china what it is today.
Barre took power cause he was the only odey left in the army. Circumstance and natural talent( he was an intelligent man) also got him there. But like the example i gave he was not refined no worthy of being a country's leader he was a goat hearder from ethiopia who came with alot of cuqdaad for his superiors.

I believe the kacan dowlad tried to burry it symbolically, holding a mock funeral and lowering 'qabiil' into the grave and filling it back up. That decade was the golden years of Somalia before qabiil based rebels formed as a direct response to some people in the government abusing their power and promoting clan division. I believe qabiil was not properly addressed and that it was always elephant in the room. I have hope that we learned from our 30 year mistake and that it never repeats again. Qabiil in my opinion is evil and we should do our best to leave it behind 
The Kacaan regime tried to end qabil. Between 1969 and 1978 Sias Barre was very anti qabil, the revolutionary council was made of many different clans and the regime publicly condemned tribalism.
After the Ogaden war Siad started to become more qabilist as many of his opposes started their own liberation movements/clan militia but despite this Siad still had non-darood , non marexaan in key government positions untill the very end of his regime

I have a controversial idea to destroy qabilism.
Somalia needs a president who comes from a small clan or even madhibaan. Someone who comes from a tiny clan is less likely to fall into qabil politics and more likely to work for the interests of all Somalis.

If Siad gave up power in the 80s we would have had a slow transition towards democracy and no civil war

it is well known that the Darood are the biggest qabiilist in Somalia. Their small brains caused the destruction of the Somali republic. MSB was in over his head in trying to deal with both rebels and the superpowers. The only sweet revenge we got is when the barbaric Hawiyeh killed a lot of Darood from Kismayo to Galkayo and then demolished the capital.
