He said after 64 years past independence we still have terrorist running around, we have foreign troops doing “peacekeeping” on our lands.

After 64 years we still rely on foreign aid. 70% of our income is foreign aid. We are also ranked number 1 in corruption. 70% of our population lives in poverty. 85% of our children don’t have access to education. After 64 years 4 million of us are still refugees while 6 million live in unhuman conditions without proper access to clean water, education and overall good life. This after having 9million hectares of fertile land, 57 million live stock with a coastline that has over 50+ different fish species with potential of providing 850 thousands metric tones of fish each year. right now we only get 30 thousands metric ton of fish. Somalia also sits on strategic land. We can benefit from its gas and oil reserves, its minerals amongs others. It’s a shame therefore that we import goods each year over 6 billion dollars while we export only less than 60 million each year. Somali people are smart, mobile, ability to invent and to make things happen with a vibrant young population, 70% being under 30 years. The sad thing is that most of these youngster have no access to education while the ones that do get educated don’t have access to jobs. We need to ask ourselves how can we overcome these issues.

Shabaab have no option but to listen. After all it was foreign countries that created shabaab and its they who keep supplying them with weapons and provide them with logistics and the intell.

Depends on how we handle it. We can become like the gulf states or become like Nigeria. If we get corrupt politicians then we are doomed. I’m guessing it will be somewhere in between the gulf states and Nigeria. Only Allah knows what the future holds for us.
