it gets to a point with this anti arab stuff where the entire motivation behind it is different, like the extreme anti arab is no better than the ana arab crowd
Abdi is a nickname not a full name, abdi litteraly means Servant of or slave of probably how you interpreted it. ABD without the I means servant.
So this nickname comes from the various amount of islamic names that begin with Abdi- then you add name of allah. So essentially every name with Abdi means slave of Allah (one of allahs names).
Why do you insist arabs gave us this name?
I don't insist on anything, If it was derived from abdullah then I retract my statement and end thread, otherwise it stands@Shimbiris
No. It's short for Abdullah. Which means "Servant of God". Arabs tend to use the shortening "Abdo" themselves quite often which means "His slave" whereas in Arabic "Abdi" would mean "My slave". In both cases the "his" and "my" is referring to God, obviously. But Somalis in our own language use "Abdi" the same way someone would use "Abdul" in Arabic. As in "Servant of". That's why there are so many names like Abdikarim, Abdirizak, Abdikadir and so on. In all cases the name means "Servant of God" and is just using another one of God's 99 names as a stand-in for simply "Allah". It is a religious name.
Stop being so uqdad ridden. Subxanallah.

The new users on this forum turn out more foolish than the previous.
Right, but I dont think somalis have gotten to a point where they name their kid just 'abdi'. Majority knows what it means, and if they don't people around them will tell them. The only reason Arabs ever call Somalis "3abdi" is because they've seen us calling ourselves that all the time and using it as a name or nickname. If they were actually trying to be racist they'd say "3abeed". And you are correct, I would say. "Abdi" was probably originally a nickname that somehow caught on as an actual name for some people like how "Danny" is short for Daniel yet there are seriously people with "Danny" as their legal, real name.

READ WHAT I WROTEA lot of Turks and Indonesians also shorten names like AbdulRahman to just Abdi. Arabs did nothing get a grip smh
Most Somalis I know and grew up with are pretty cultured people. It's honestly more of the same old, same old. Usually young Somalis, often from the west, discovering who they are, where they morally and religiously stand, what their ethnicity is really about and coming at it sometimes with a lot of baggage they're carrying from the ethnic dynamics of whatever western country they live in (looking at you, reer UK).
You are an idiot. Re read what I have writtenMost Somalis I know and grew up with are pretty cultured people.
Somehow, this place turned into a wastebasket for all the heterogeneous misfits, yet so many recurring patterns and tendencies.
What you see is willful stupidity with a dash of perversely imagined Nietzschean slave and Arab master fetish. One of the main themes here that I never heard about where I grew up.
I don't think this forum is as representative as many want it to be, for the West or other diaspora. It's a thing of its own.
My observation of a broader trend is lost on you since you're the dot on the elephant's skin forming its patterns, not perceiving yourself beyond yourself. You are an idiot. Re read what I have written
Is the dot on its arse by any chance? My observation of a broader trend is lost on you since you're the dot on the elephant's skin forming its patterns, not perceiving yourself beyond yourself.
