In the past Somaliland was renowned internationally as a bastion of democracy and security in the Horn of Africa.

This was stated by Opposition UCID Party Leader Eng Feisal Ali Warabe in Hargeisa where he castigated the government for its lackluster arrangements for planned 2019 parliamentary elections.

“Today we can no longer claim to be a democratic nor peaceful country” said Eng Warabe

According to the politician Somaliland has lost its steam in the democratization process courtesy of a parliament that is the only one in the world to be in office for 12 years.

Similarly the claim of a secure country has been lost since President Muse Bihi assumed office Following the mushrooming of a red Opposition groups formed and led by senior officers of the army he, President is commander in chief.

Stressing that it was very apparent that the administration is not intent on holding Parliamentary elections as planned in early 2019, Eng Feisal Ali warned of a major revolution if the president does not make an about-turn.

“In lieu of timely parliamentary elections in 2019 I shall hold an all Clans Council with the objective of taking over authority” Said the politician adding that this decision emanates from refusal by president

Bihi to negotiate with political parties.

According to the Engineer turned political discussions between the three political parties and administration has collapsed due to failure to agree on a number of issues.

Said he “First The Kulmiye party bandwagon is completely opposed to the Demand by the Opposition parties of UCID and Wadani to disband the present national elections commission-NEC”

Adding that not only have they refused to negotiate disbanding NEC which is behind the fiasco of November 2017 presidential elections, but the ruling party and administration have disputed proposals to increase the number of election commissioners from seven to nine.

The all political parties consultative meetings that were geared towards establishing a common stand politically and in foreign policy as well collapsed after the dispute revolving around the future of NEC.

While Feisal Ali Warabe is known for his verbosity and platform dancing the current threat to organize an all clans meeting should be taken very seriously for repercussions shall vibrate far and wide.

Riding for the engineer in this instance is the despise held over current members of parliament by citizens who are unanimous in their desire to see new faces after 12 years.

Somaliland is no democracy, the institutions and rule of law is so weak and abused, that's why it's always a crisis everyt-time an election is held becuz the president knows, it's just fake democracy without the rule of law and institutions. PL won't make that silly mistake. First stabilize the people, dump all money into institutions and eliminate corruption, then you have a strong house that is built on laws that are not shakeable or corruptible, then you move onto economic building so the people start to get wealth and financial independence, and finally education investment to create free-minds. Untill that is done, you cannot have a democracy and will be a banana republic.

I'm not a hater I'm the most patriotic Somaliland advocate but it pains me to see the state of our country today political being led by incompetent buffoons.

Our system was perfect up until 2013 when cronyism took hold and kulmiye being self serving to enrich themselves. This is not what the snm fought and died for. We're at a the worst point in our history with income inequality at the worst level Puntland operating calmly within our territory and a handful of economic problems plus a rebellion brewing

Our group is working on a plan to rid Somaliland of all these individuals and solve all these issues.

Our hybrid system of democratic government is perfect. Is just horrible people ruined it and turned it into a democratic dictatorship where the winner had absolute authority with no checks / balances

We gotta work on it. We don't gotta worry private investment as that just develops itself the role of the government is public : social service along with defence and infrastructure.

What do you expect when the same dusty faces are still around since the early 90s?

27 years of stagnation isn't due to Somaliland citizens but it's incompetent leaders.
