Hormuud Government concept

why wouldnt this work?

would solve the corruption and incompetent government issue, hormuud basically owns and does everything in xamar and stores all the US dollars in their vaults. so it's only right they just boot out the fat suits playing lawmaker.

scrap the current FGS which is designed to not work, write a new constitution in a week, empty the parliament and replace it with a board of 7 smart people. the head of government can only be approved by the company and can be booted if he's not good enough. if there isn't enough smart people to manage the operations they could just hire from outside. the only part of the government that can stay is the foreign ministry maybe

at the beginning xamar can be run as a city state until expansion starts outside of the city, as for al shabaab, just pay some mercenaries and they're done in a month.

it's not gonna be perfect but it's 100% an upgrade from the current FGS, and i bet they would have more legitimacy among the people. the khaleej kingdoms run theirs in a very similar way and it works well for them. doesn't have to be hormuud specifically but i picked them because they are the most well run company and they are the most likely candidate

Hmm interesting idea, but they cant take over. They need to get legitmacy from not only the ones in somalia but the rest of the world. They need to do it during the tent elections. I do like your board idea, but it should be 2 houses and more then 7 people but not as much as we have now. merit based. A coucil appointing a head of state is not going to work though, being able to be booted thats just going to cause a lot of problems. it should never claim city state status. They should plant region leaders in all the states and have them be loyal to the national governmnent. Write a constitution and slowly split the states up. Focus on the education system and install it in peoples minds. Sland same thing.

this is more of a rough idea, made this thread on a whim. it needs a lot more effort to flesh out and think of something certain to work.

i'm drawn to this idea because I think we'll get infinitely better leadership. corporate governance should select for higher quality individuals and develop the human capital of the ruling class.

as for the leadership, the company's chair will have the highest authority (like a monarch) and he should appoint a manager to oversee day to day operations of the government. that manager will have 5 or so people reporting to him.

security, finances, legal and judiciary will be run by different executives and key decisions will be left to the chairman.

this government can do a lot more than FGS as hormuud all the phone data, don't need to outsource construction, and they already are kind of the central bank. the business will still operate as usual and shareholders can invest.

government spending and taxing will be kept at a minimum, the company doesnt need to give shit out to the public and spend like crazy. they'll only pay for what is necessary. this includes charity but then again it's all up to the boss at the end of the day.

as for the military, mercenaries will be brought in to deal with shabab. we could get some shabab funders to let go of their cause since the foreign backed FGS is gone and there wont be a "democracy" but this is unlikely. as time goes on we can focus on building a proper military that's meritocratic and disciplined.

i think the outside world will accept anyone that can get the job done, businesses will be way easier to deal with for them, less politics.

as for domestic legitimacy, this is like the next best form of legitimacy after outright conquest. without any foreign country demolishing their homes this time. people won't mind it, and the FMS will resist but their systems will be a total joke compared to an effecient corporate autocracy. it'll only be a matter of time really

Hormuud very powerfull from north to south in ways many ways we dont see. They have built their company thru the chaos. the company hasnt been tested with regulation and competition. But i like the Idea but i think Hormuud likes the current system. dont break what is already working

the idea has been talked about (the Paper below)...

A Country Is Not a Company by Paul Krugman

College students who plan to go into business often major in economics, but few believe that they will end up using what they hear in the lecture hall. Those students understand a fundamental truth: What they learn in economics courses won’t help them run a business.

The converse is also true: What people learn from running a business won’t help them formulate economic policy. A country is not a big corporation. The habits of mind that make a great business leader are not, in general, those that make a great economic analyst; an executive who has made $1 billion is rarely the right person to turn to for advice about a $6 trillion economy.

Why should that be pointed out? After all, neither businesspeople nor economists are usually very good poets, but so what? Yet many people (not least successful business executives themselves) believe that someone who has made a personal fortune will know how to make an entire nation more prosperous. In fact, his or her advice is often disastrously misguided.
