I have this memory of Burnsville, MN, from when I was in elementary school. It starts with the first snowfall of the year, which began on a Friday night and lasted for five days straight.
As a young child, you don’t always notice the passage of time or even know what day it is. By Monday, it had been snowing for three days straight. I remember there was so much snow that I couldn't see over it—mind you, I was in kindergarten, only about three feet tall.
From that point on in my life, I decided never to live in a cold, snow-covered place.
What’s your experience with snow as a Somali?
