The opium wars was one of the most fucked up things I’ve read.

They got China hooked on Opium just for trade and that resulted in Opium reaching the rest of SE Asia.

100 years later and there were Opium dens in Asia and a massive epidemic of users. Today, Opioids are trafficked through SE Asia in massive numbers creating dependency, violence and drug deaths.

All this for British trade.
