How can a tiny nation who hosts so many military bases be so poor?

Any country run by a family run dictatorship will essentially not care what the populace thinks. They are beholden to key supporters no the people and hence do jack shit to improve the lives of people. The result in Djibouti is 23% of the country is suffering from extreme poverty.

DICTATOR does not care about welfare of citizens, his family own all the major companies and he only cares about the profits coming in. The west only care for djibouti to be stable so they can continue operating their military bases.

I've heard there was poverty in Djibouti, but I didn't know it was that bad.
Reer Somaliland, are Djiboutians coming to your region because of how expensive their's is?

What's the heat differance like .
Yeah djiboutians are always popping into somaliland Vice Versa most landers and djiboutians have family relation and strong business links . The most successful businesses in djibouti are owned by isaaq's

I highly doubt that domestic businesses are even encouraged.

Seems like rich Djiboutians would be the biggest threats to their racoon in charge.

That's why most the businesses there are opened by Somalis and Ethiopians.

Djibouti would have had a much more destructive civil war were it not for those bases. IOG does not have to worry about his people rising up because his security and that of his regime is 100% protected by France, US, China, Japan etc...

It does not even make any sense. Djibouti is a city-state, how in the hell have they not managed to build a sewage system for a single city?

Cause people give them money for bases like USA gives them around 200 mil for their bases and multiple countries have military bases there

Djibouti is developing leaps and bounds. Many developments are happening right now, and the workers are all Djiboutians. Check out You Tube videos of PK23, a huge 4,000 hectare free trade zone, that would transform trade in Africa. And that is just one example.
