How come Somalis never support the religious governing them?

The majority of Somalis don't want religious rule despite claiming to be very religious.

Somalis don't support them because of their opposition to khat. They don't want khat banned by the religious.

There is simply no other explanation

We tried the religious ruling us, it failed miserably. They're called ICU and we discovered that religious people have too many deadly disagreements on Islam. They're divided and thus unstable.

Majority of Somalis want khat banned because of how it destroys families and diversified agriculture, but as for the business class they rather not, because they will lose out on it. Greed is the motivator i guess.

Somalis want sharia in the liberal sense, not the salafist extreme interpretation of it, i have been told.

I am for the banning of Khat all over Somalia and stiff prison sentences for anyone caught with the plants.

And as for religion, i support a 'separation of mosque and state'.

Also, the government has to make it clear that Somalia is an overwhelmingly and majority Muslim country.

But the institutions of politics and religion has to be separated.

How did you come to that conclusion?

Btw you can have a religion w/o wanting to have the government get involved in religious affairs. I'm not sure how thats hypocritical.

Personally it's not wise to have religious governance, the 'world police' will not allow that and we'll be under constant threat, the same with a truely secular government.

Somalis tend to do better under authoritarian rule imho, that's the best thing for them whether religious or not.

Because Somalis in general don't like to be told what to do which Religious state will essentially do....don't eat khat, wear Jilbab, no gender mixing, no music etc.....

Somalia is a 100% muslim country. We have been muslim for millenia. We just don't need anyone telling us how to practice our religion.

I will not take orders from some little boy wearing a turban who is not even able to understand arabic scripture.
