Qabiil wars were basically some poet from one qabiil makes a diss track on another qabiil and that qabiil gets angry and gets their poet to do a retaliatory diss track on them and then the 2 qabiils start fighting and then the qabiil that won gets their poet to make another disstrack flaunting and flexing their victory and shitting on them and because of that this is basically how qabiil wars which then evolved into qabiil beefs started.

Somalis are only 2,500 years old. Before that there was no Somali language, and you shared the language with other people, like Oromo and rendiile
The tribe is something that is always present in pastoral societies.
Agricultural societies are those that do not care about the qabiil, but rather belong to the land in which they live
while nomads do not belong to one place, but rather live by grazing and traveling
That's why they belong to the tribe and not the land
Wars between tribes is a normal thing. They always fight over water, grazing land, and their livestock

That is literally Black American Rap culture. When a rapper releases a diss track and other competitor rappers follow suit, it escalates into violence and everyone begins killing their rival rapper.

Cushites are 9k years old and originate from Sudan then migrated over east Africa. All cushites have clan system similar to Somalis.

Clans were in all societies. China has clans. Europe was dominated by clan families until the Catholic church banned them and they were the central authority of Europeans.

Somali qabiil wars are literally gang wars but on a much larger and wider scale.

Iblis probably came up with the idea after learning how violent and divisive humans are back when he was visible to everyone and instructed his minions to take advantage of it.

It caused so much bloodshed over millennia. The bigger question is why it hasn’t been dissolved during the spread of Islam in the 7th-10th century and made Islam the national identity instead.

The majority who still blindly follows it in 2024 are most Muslim ethnic groups. The others not so much.

I’m very interested in knowing what the clan system was like in the peninsula without Arab influence, was it like some xeer/cushitic thing like Oromos expect much Omotic influence or was it influenced by semites from an early age….

How do you expect it to be erased when that wasn’t the goal of the religion?

Every society has different societal organisation, Europe and the Christian world entered an age of nation building which made the clans useless after Roman conquest and conversion . China has a long history of centralised and decentralised control, they even have a saying, “The Empire long divided must unite, the Empire long united must divided”, so their weakest moments were filled with tribal warlords.

Islam doesn’t really insist on erasing tribal ties, being from Arabia where tribes and lineages are everything like many nomadic societies it remains till today.

Exactly I’ve noticed while tribalism is increased in Muslim communities wether its South Asian or Middle eastern or African it’s much less common in places like Asia or in Europe for example no one uses it at all everyone shares an identity which is their country I wish we were like that 😔

being from Arabia where tribes and lineages are everything
Not anymore, the people are united by the royal families and monarchies. Tribes are of low importance there and now its more to do with wealth/social status. All tribes must conform and have unconditional support for the ruling royal family and specifically for the head of state. (I've lived in both Saudi Arabia and the UAE)

But.. in rural areas of the country where the bedouins live, you are right. Tribes do matter to the remaining bedouins and rural folk.

People love their lineage too much. Alcohol was not banned immediately because it would hinder the spread of the dean in Arabia. Perhaps in Allah (SWT) all-knowing wisdom knew that letting go of something like clans completely would be too much for the believers. Although violence based on Qabil is haram. But hey we live in a world full of sin and ignorance so what can you do?

Qabil is as old as humans. In the Qur'an, it says:
' O humanity! Indeed, We created you from a male and a female, and made you into peoples and tribes so that you may ˹get to˺ know one another. Surely the most noble of you in the sight of Allah is the most righteous among you '.

If one looks round, say in Europe, a highly tribal society by name and region, one would notice tribalism in the form of Angles, Gaels, Ires, Cymry etc. Also, in mainland Europe, Vikings, Germanics, Slavics, Franks etc ... these are all tribal communities, of course through migration and industrialisation, ethnicities had formed replacing tribal configurations to further develop cohesion, coexistence and survival. In the US, States are shaped by ethnic, and by extension tribal delineations, with the exception of one. The same applies to Asia, Africa, Middle East etc. Xenophobia. mistaken for racism, is rooted in tribalism. We shall have to let students of anthropology and social studies to disentangle that.

Qabil (tribe) is never the issue, Qabyaalad (tribalism) is. Reason: scarcity of resources and power struggle. Dates back to Qabil and Habil (Able and Cain).

Qabyaalad exists everywhere not just Somalia. The problem is our major qabiils are all too balanced out and relatively equal in power. We needed a ''winner takes all'' clan to unite all Somalis like what happened to the Mongols with Genghis Khan or even with the Arabs in Muhammad SAW time.
