Tribalism is a naturally occurring phenomena across the world.
It isn't unique to somalis, loyalty to tribe and later to nation isn't unique to Somalis, all societies have experienced it.
The form of tribalism I can't understand is the somali version of never ending tribalism, where you would find people mocking other people who they share the exact same fore fathers and have 100% same DNA. Which is why I can never find myself throwing personal insults at Majeeerteen or awrtable for example.
Also loyalty to tribe shouldn't mean its a do or die situation, where you have to be anti other clans to truly love your clan.
When I praise darood for example, it doesn't mean I hate hawiye or isaaq.
My maternal ancestors were irir samaale so I myself have hawiye/dir genes in me.
We can discuss tribal politics like the rest of the world without reaching Nazi levels where tribe becomes like religion.
And most somalis put tribe above their nation unlike the rest of the world where tribalism has some end point.
You can support your clan but let it have an ending point and never put your tribe above your nation.
Last year some ogaden SUB SUB clans were literally killing themselves in Garissa!!
