I think the question is if there was a bottom line, where would it be?

i.e you met someone and you fell in love. You later find out you guys are 4th cousins, would you call it quits?

I’d say 4th cousins are the cutoff. If under some crazy coincidence that you guys were soulmates that were meant to be and just happened to also be 3rd cousins then maybe that too. I mean, at that point you share less than %10 dna and have 0.01% chance you have similar chromosomes. (that’s assuming there’s no history of inbreeding in your family. If there was even a hint of cousin marriages in your family line then you’d better run for the hills lol).

Yes, but wouldn't you ask for a breakdown of her family line? It’s customary for us to ask for all 4 bloodlines; our elders are tasked with making sure that relatives (at least 6 generations) don't intermarry.

My 5th cousin made the mistake of not asking and had a child with her boyfriend (a distant relative) and they were ordered to break it off once it was found out.

My father's clan has exceptionally beautiful women and this was a source of embarrassment for me on a number of occasions when I was younger; I'm virtually a carbon copy of my community oriented father (RIP) so people automatically know who I am at Sudanese gatherings, so when I approached beautiful women... I was occasionally met with 'oh, hello, cousin.'..
