Its quite obvious now to researchers that Somalis and other Horners are descendants of a population that formed in ancient Sudan resulting from the mixing of a Natufian like people and Dinka like. This population then proceeded to migrate further south east to the Horn of Africa and as far south as Tanzania. Samples from Iron Age Kenya and Tanzania reveal a Somali-like population aka southern Cushites who were then absorbed into migrating Bantu and Nilotic populations. Their DNA can still be seen in various populations like Kikyuku and especially Maasai and Tutsis.
There were some additional admixtures that happened such as the introduction of Arabian ancestry into northern Ethiopia and Eritrea which concides with the spread of Semitic languages and the native Omotic population who mixed with certain ethnicities such as Oromo and Wolayta hence the high amount of Mota ancestry. Somalis were largely isolated from these additional episodes of admixtures which is why we are considered the "purest" population in the Horn, at about 45% Eurasian/55% SSA and being mainly Natufian and Dinka like.
