The only white relative I have in 23andMe is 60-year-old white woman from Pennsylvania. Apparently, she is my 6th cousin, and she has 5% of Somali DNA in her? Make it make sense. :mindblown:

Yes yes yes.

I have a dozen of these people. One of them claimed he was Egyptian and his name was Jamal or something during a one night stand. I have figured out one of their daddies after speaking to my abo if he knew a man who came in the mid 80s and went to a particular college in the city. I am still deciding whether to tell this person who her abo is. He's alive and has grown children who have kids of their own.

23andMe DNA relatives list is like a gold mine. You must be at least 12.5% non Somali, otherwise I ignore your messages. Full Somalis, be gone and get out of my DMs.

The most common situation of a person not knowing they are Somali on 23andMe seems to be adoptees from Ethiopian orphanages. Especially those from Addis Ababa.

Seen a handful of those. Somalis not putting their kids for adoption is a myth, seems like it happens.

Interesting. I have never stumbled upon that before.

This one guy was totally oblivious. He has the whitest name ever too. I creeped on his social media and he had photos of his dogs, Christmas, a photo of himself playing hockey, and his hot cadaan sister and his professional looking parents playing board games and drinking. He has a good white life. I told him to forget about his roots and to enjoy what you have. I am positively sure about his clan though. He has the features of this particular clan.

Just checked 23andMe because of this thread, I still can't believe a half Raxanweyn half Bravanese is still my closest relative and much closer than all the others. :mjlol:
