I would like to be involved in reforestation efforts in Somalia but I'm totally clueless

What trees are best considering the soil we have?

Where do we get them from?

How costly would it be to plant millions around the country?

Would people volunteer their time?

These are the types of trees that can grow naturally in the region. Little water is required for most of them.

If I were you I'd open a tree nursery. Grow different types of trees and supply them all over the country.

Assuming you're not trolling

-Mesquite tree, Chitalpa, Olive and Fig trees, Junipers and Poplars and lastly Date palm trees would be suitable for Somalia's semi-arid climate

-http://www.treeseeds.com I prefer this site if you are buying in bulk

-Considering the average cost for 1000 tree seeds is $20 at most retailers. let's say you want about 1,000,000 seeds. 1000X1000 is 1,000,000. So in the grand scheme, it would cost $20,000 USD for 1,000,000 seeds. This is not factoring in price changes and shipping costs and other fees of buying 1,000,000 in bulk.

-You're on your own for that, if you need the locals help they would need some sort of incentive other than "Oh, but why don't you want Somalia to be pretty." I would recommend taking friends or paying the locals to do it for you.

Also, you have to factor in Germination and Gestation of the seeds. Feel free to PM me. I am currently majoring in Biology so I have some knowledge on the subject.
