Read ibn Taymiyyahs books, specially his refutations on Greek philosophy. He blames them for all heretical ideologies in many Islamic sects.

Ghazali and Co, reject some aspects of metaphysics but they accept logic. Ibn Taymiyyah considers these two aspects cannot be considered separately, they go hand in hand. He wrote perhaps the most vicious attack on philosophypical logic (aql) in the light of the Scripture (naql).

Dr. Yasir Qadhi wrote his Phd at Yale University on the work of Ibn Taymiyyah, ta'aarud al-'aql wa naql (Reconciling logic/aql and revelation/naql)

To question your answer, they're not compatible. To say they're compatible, goes against logic itself.

Ibn Rush and Ghazali were heavily influenced by Greek Philosophy, Ibn Taymiyyah however was a trendsetter. A truly gifted genuis.

@Abdalla You’re a hard nut to crack because you acknowledge the genius of Ibn Taymiyyah(and rightly so) but yet support @DR OSMAN as he spews his gaalnimo.

I am difficult to read. My kin @DR OSMAN is raf'al qalam, the pen is lifted from him.

Omar Del Sur tried to stunt on us but when he saw that some of us are well versed in falsafa, he's nowhere to be seen.

You could possibly argue that. But it’s that where you stop wouldn’t you wanna give it a try brining him within the fold of Islam. Or are you more concerned with agreeing on fkd matters with him. And I’m also curious on how you evaluate his diagnosis what do you base it on.

Okay.

I think I'll limit myself to a few minutes to respond. I have to go do some things. And I don't think I'll cite any sources.

I think it is crazy to rule out Muslims studying philosophy. I also don't want to press the point of Islam and philosophy being potentially compatible because I don't think that it necessarily should be promoted for everyone.

A lot of people- they are not interested in philosophy That kind of thing doesn't interest them. And it isn't necessary for going to jannah.

However, I think Muslims should be at the forefront of intellectual leadership of the world. I think some sector of Muslims should have a deep understanding of philosophy so that they can be at the forefront of the intellectual debates of the day.

If studying philosophy is compulsory, then you must beware of believing in any of its falsehoods or admiring its people. You should strive hard to acquire shar’i knowledge, especially that which has to do with aqeedah so that you will develop immunity and resistance to specious arguments.

The good doctor has been very open about his schizophrenia and mental illnesses.

Philosophy enters a dangerous field as they try to define God with their limited intelligence. The prophet already warned us about tje dangerous aspects of philosophy as the prophet said to reflect about the creation, not the Creator.

Ibn Abbas reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said, “Reflect deeply upon the creation, but do not reflect upon the essence of the Creator. Verily, his essence cannot be known other than to believe in it.
