These folks are confused and of course mentally speaking their all on the same level. For many centuries we've heard the stories passed down by our forefathers. Some of us flew across the seas and arrived in America. The children born here no longer believe in the tales passed down by their ancestors. Which might've been a win instead, they've welcomed the identity given to them by the white man and have learned to accept the art of assimilation. Today they believe they are the same people who their ancestors freed from Portuguese domination. They've downgraded their existence.

At my work place I met a “Somali” man who claimed he was reer xamar. If you saw this guy he looked whiter than most arabs

If they have an issue with identity they should just ask their parents grand parents or simply go on yt. There are countless vids that talk about qabil histories and general somali history. The fact that there exist identity crisis in the day an age, is a testimony to how lazy and incompetent humanity has become. You have all the info in the world in ur pocket as such there is no excuse for not knowing who u are.

When it comes to those that create these lazy ass videos uuh are somalis bleck white or a brick wall of sea dust etc. I would argue that these vids are harmfull not just to those that watch it but to the community as a hole. Reinforces negative stereotypes it miss informes and confuses the young individuals whom might not have an that much of an exposer to somali entertainment or know much about somali history beyond the youtubers that they watch. Also feeds into these twitter niggas who make toxic threads on somalis, whom most of the time are borderline if not neo nazi and very racist niggas larping as somalis on twitter thereby adding fuel to the fire.

All in all i suggest that somalis take a more direct approach, into educating there kids or siblings on their own history and stories so that we all avoid these kinds of un necessary discussions.
