Together with a really good cadaan friend, I'm in the process of writing a sci-fi/crime/dark comedy show. It's set in West London, and the story involves drugs, crime, and aliens.
It's influenced by shows such as, Dr Who, Hitchhikers Guide To The Galaxy, and Red Dwarf on the sci-fi aspect, and Top Boy for the London drug crime aspect.
The main protagonist will be a Somali West London drug dealer......that's all I'm going to reveal about the plot.
This is a proper original concept, never done before, and I honestly cannot contain my excitement. I have had this concept at the back of my mind for the past 11 years, after coming up with it way back in 2010, while watching a sci-fi alien film on a cold, wet, November night (i won't mention the name of that film). And now, I'm putting pen to paper.
I'm just hoping that there is a young Somali actor out there, hoping for a big break in his career. I should actually say, Somali *ACTORS*, as there will be multiple Somali characters in the story, both male and female. And even mature Somali characters, such as the protagonist's parents.
We've written the first two episodes, and In Sha Allah, by the December, we will have a completed draft of season 1, and then hope to pitch to film and tv production companies.
