In Zeila. I read Richard Burton's (nacalla) account of his travels and it's an interesting read. There are Ethiopian slaves in Zeila and the Governer's son married ten wives, one of which is an Arab (doesn't mention origin). So some somalis definitely have recent non-Somali ancestry.

In general, he paints the place as being lawless, Ciise Bedouins and Habr Awal skirmishes breaking out often in the desert.

Wow. Just Wow. Bookmarked this in my toolbar. It gives credence to James Dahl and his maps and early Aksumite control of the north coast. No wonder no one is commenting!
:ooh:

A lot of Somalis that have family that lived in big cities definitely have recent non somali ancestry the myth of the pure Somali race is dumb

The governor of Saylac was none other than Sharmarke Ali Salih (Habar Yoonis, Musa Carre). Originally a Nakhuda (captain of a dhow) and merchant, he later rose up to become the governor of Tadjourah and Zeila.

Despite purchasing the governorship of Zeila from the Ottomans based in Western Arabia, Sharmarke was forced to depose the incumbent Mochan/Arab governor with a band of fifty Somali musketeers. Technically in the employ of the Turks, Sharmarke ruled autonomously and excreted real power in the region, even as far as Harar and Shoa (Abyssinia).

Sharmarke's agent in Harar was imprisoned and later died in custody so he pressured the King of Shoa to detain 300 Harari citizens in his domain

'The chiefs, arrived at manhood, immediately marry four wives: they divorce the old and unfruitful, and, as amongst the Kafirs, allow themselves an unlimited number in peculiar cases, especially when many of the sons have fallen. Daughters, as usual in Oriental countries, do not β€œcount” as part of the family: they are, however, utilised by the father, who disposes of them to those who can increase his wealth and importance. Divorce is exceedingly common,

Divorce was common in the 1800s in somalia, the myth that somali men and women divorce themselves too much recently is a lie its in our culture.

Damn . ethiopian women very attractive. i don't know what it is about them. Just so very attractive. Their smiles and tight bodies. :lawd:. Even though it makes your blood rush. Even though their soft bodies catches your attraction, the controlling mind of a woman will make you become unattracted to their bodies. Im in this too deep, May I die at an early age. :jcoleno:
