I've read many great ideas/visions on starting a business or partnering up and investing in Somalia and the greater Somali region (eth). So many unique and equally brilliant ideas and visions were shared But every single idea is profit driven. Does anyone wish to start a non profit business or community owned operation for locals? Also for those already doing business how are you giving back to the local communities you've enriched yourselves from and I mean beyond paying the taxes and following regulations ? What kind of LASTING impacting are you looking to make? Thanks.

In business, stay away from anyone who doesn't seek profits.

Also, stay away from anyone building an NGO. I respect people who put proceeds from revenue into an NGO after creating jobs with thier corporation.

You can't last if you don't make revenue.

Socialism doesn't work in this context of Somalia. Go in with a capitalist mind and donate your wealth. Or just setup a non-profit organization and ask for donations. Not that many people will invest in a socialist business, it honestly doesn't make sense. Invest in jobs, create value for your customers, and reinvest your capital. China didn't pull up 170 million lower class people into the middle class in the 90's through socialism, but through capitalism.

Good example with China. I just can't see myself asking others to donate money :manny: not a ego thing just don't see a future in collecting for causes or charity for me.

You're right invest in jobs and creating opportunities for the people but why can't an investment group form on that one principle alone(investing in people).

Not aiming for socialism. Yes to profit maximizing and free market principles. My ideas are a mix of both. I would like the profits kept at home with the people building schools, libraries, and other works. Invest in the people you make money from. Is that not fair?

I love China but my Korean friends did it even better.:rejoice: Take the chaebol example. They invested in their people and look at them now:rejoice:
