Is conventional war between powers viable nowadays?

With the creation of nukes came the idea of MAD, Mutually assured destruction meaning you can't go doing countries over willy nilly. It's also why Iran didn't bomb the shit out of their enemies, they don't have nukes and the US can steam roll them anytime they want. Hell it's why langaab Pakistan can continually piss off India's 1 billion people without a care in the world.

but it's not only nukes. SAM's that can take out jets quickly, hypersonic missiles that will breach your air defenses before you ever saw it coming, drones that can take out soldiers from a control station thousands of miles away and shoulder fired surface to air missiles that can take out those drones too.

here's a video of a torpedo taking out a ship in one shot. Now that was years ago imagine what torpedoes can do nowadays.

It seems like we're going to be seeing less wars between powers (regional to great to super) and more economic attacks like sanctions and angry letters from the UN. We all saw Russia take Crimea and very little was done outside of more sanctions/condemnations. They're still slowly taking over their former Soviet Bloc neighbors too but really and truly who's going to stop them? Certainly not the EU.

Yes. Less wars, because they are fighting a bigger, invisible, sexy war.

Unpopular opinion. I think the world will see nuclear war.

No weapon is invented without being employed in a huge and devastating war.

We already saw ww2 recently and how airplanes were used to consolidate that war as well as tie up rebellions in African colonies. Now we will witness ww3. Especially as the Europeans lose power and influence of the world.

They will never allow China to take over.
