Is Geography destiny?

Now, i understand why we are poor and why we have alway been poor. Geography did not favor us
no navigable rivers, most of our lands are marginal for agriculture, our coast is either very mountainous or cover in reefs and shoals, we are effected by Locus swarms, droughts and El ninos weather phenomenon.

The agriculture problem could be helped if people adopted newer farming methods. Hydroponics and aquaponics are growing in their use around the world. They're particularly good because you can fit them in smaller spaces than traditional farming. I'm sure they have their cons too though.

Once we can cheaply desalinate seawater, we'll be laughing. We have a lot to be grateful for like the coast and the warm weather which can be great for food production if managed well.

If we weren't so damn poor and broken, we could also build desalination plants all across the coast. We would have an endless supply of purified water.

There are a fair few countries that do desalination quite well, we could hopefully team up sometime in the future.

Fossil fuels will be obsolete by 2050. We're 30-40 years too late

Somalia has more fresh water than the France.

I think the cheapest and most efficient way to solve water problems is to build sand dams across seasonal rivers in the North and areas of flooding in South.

This is simple cost effective way to rejuvenate the eco system and refill water table and bring back lush forests and grass lands.

It has worked in Kenyan and India.
