Is Hyena Meat Halal?

Nope. The meat of any animal that consumes other animals is haram for us (Muslims) unless they're in the sea (i.e., sharks and other predators in the sea).

Other ulema refuted him. Besides, he is a literalist. The fiqh requires a lot of reasoning and research. Many of our today's literalist scholars take hadiths in isolation.
It 100% is. It's eaten by the destitute in Sool and Sanaag. I know this for a fact.

Imam Shafi'i was of the opinion that it's ok to eat Hyenas. However Imam Abu Hanifa was against this because of the general prohibition on eating beasts of prey.
It was never reported. You just made that shit up. No Somali woman in SSC would marry or stayed married to a man who eats hyena's meat, and any guy who does it will be recorded in our poetry that he would be a pariah in that territory.

I didn't make it up. When it comes to Somalis, I know everything about them. I am an authoritative source on all things Somali. Hyena meat is eaten there, as well as in other parts of Somalia.

As a rule of thump i always subscribed to the hadith about wild animal and birds of prey.
Ibn Abbas said God’s messenger prohibited every beast of prey with a fang and every bird with a talon.

I never even considered to research any more than this but thanks to you now i know that there is a group of ulima that actually think that hyena meat is halal. I really didn't need to know this why do you even have to research such topics we don't live in countries that consumes hyena meat. This rabbit hole took me even further and thanks to you i also know that fox, elephant and hedgehog meat is halal for some ulima. I would still go with the above mentioned hadith at any case. Who knew the shafi'i madhab think that hyena is halal yaab.
