Islam without Af-Somali= disaster for diaspora

Somali children in the diaspora need to be taught Af-Somali along with Islamic lessons at dugsi.

Asians teach their children Urdu and use Urdu to teach Islam. They have been in the UK for 3/4 generations and still have a strong sense of pride because of this and many other practises.

Somalis are only taught Islam and to succeed academically and we are still wondering why they say "hooyo ma taalo" and think they are "madoow" or "mixed carabs". This is why young Somalis think it's ok to consider marrying an Ajnabi.

NO CULTURAL PRIDE WHATSOEVER.

We need community centres that teach Somali culture.

Many studies have shown that children who are fluent in their native tongue as well as the host language are more successful at school.

Bring back Af-Somali. Bring back Somali Pride.

Furthermore, I would suggest these same community centres/mosques start registering young single Somalis and match them after giving them pre-marital counselling.

If we don't build strong communities now, we will be washed away in a few generations and we will end up with some Cadaan/Hindi/Madoows claiming their "grandpa/ma was SomaLIAN".

Absolutely.

It can start at home, young married Somalis need to find Somali grammar books and make their homes a "Somali only" zone.

It can expand from there into Somali community centres (Zero tolerance for Qabyaalad), host cultural nights etc. Somali language classes and so on.

This can even create jobs for our "older" groups who can teach the language/culture etc.

These same young Somali parents can start "introducing" their educated, Somali, good muslim teens to each other when they get ready for marriage (after puberty).

I would go even further and advise making Islamic dugsi uniforms that look like Somali traditional clothing. White macaawiis and turbans for boys and "alindi" hijab for the girls.

In the diaspora I see no Qabiil , it's not practical.
I will get to deleting my qabyaalad in Somalia insha'Allah.
