One of the main reasons why Africa is a shithole is because people that have nothing to do with each other are sharing countries. Sudan alone should be 5 countries. Netherlands, Belguim and Luxembourg are basically the same people but they all have their own countries and sort out their own affairs.

The African Union goes by the international law principle called Uti possidetis.

No new countries allowed, unless the current regime accepts it (rarely). That's why Somaliland and similar unilateral breakaways aren't going anywhere.
