Its disgusting when you see how immigrant parents risked their lives to get a better future for their kids. Risked everything and it all gets wasted on their children becoming gangbangers or th*ts. It's kinda the parents fault as well. Most degenerates come from dysfunction households. Crossing the ocean isn't enough to ensure your kids to be healthy and functional members of society. You have to protect your children from outside threats, you have do your best to provide the best possible life for your children. You have to ensure your children stay with education, you have to teach your kids life skills on how to survive in this world. If you don't raise your kids properly then the harsh outside world will by teaching them degeneracy and people outside who don't have your children best interests will bring up your children by teaching and influencing them by teaching them filth and misdirecting them. It's easy to blame the preupatrator but not their individually harsh and tough environments with constant threats, so one needs to do what he needs to survive and sometimes it isn't nice.

its sad how present some parents are but at the same time they’re distant as well. ive seen parents that barely even talk to their children. By talk i mean like teaching, guiding and genuinely having a good relationship but instead some teach their children to fear them so they would never genuinely talk to their parents about issues. also many Somalis live in low income housing obviously they are going to encounter gangs and stuff like that but I’ve always wondered instead of living on benefits for 20+ years, if they really cared about how their children grow up, they would’ve took ESL classes, maybe even go to college you’re never too old to go to school, they could even get certificate or associates or even a non blue collar job that doesn’t require education. I’m not coming for people on benefits bc it is a great privilege to have, however it was created to be a temporary thing. Most people that are on benefits are embarrassed about it and they work to get off of it but no some somalis are taking advantage of the system. It really baffles me bc i was the only “recent” immigrant growing up. I was so shocked to find out the that kids’ around me that they’re parents grew up there and graduated high school there and they’re still in the same position as someone who just came to America. wallahi im not being classist but how are we supposed to better ourselves as a community when we refuse to take the opportunities that are given to us.
Wallahi your right they stay in government housing with gangs and drugs. They never teach their kids anything . They don't help them in any ways, there abusive to their kids physically and verbally. Then they get shocked when their daughter becomes a or son becomes a degenerates who cause nothing but mayhem. Somali parents create these degenerates they don't come from nowhere.

also there’s government housing where I live that’s not in degenerate areas, it’s basically has old or disabled people. i would not move my children to an area just bc it has a lot of Somalis I wouldn’t want them around those bad ass kids

the parents are not completely at fault but they do play a large role bc of how they are raised. Also about your suggestion, it’s the parents job to sign them up for activities that make sure they are off the streets like signing up for a sport or school clubs. It was rare for Somali kids to partake in those activities bc they’re parents say it’s “gaal”

I agree however what you're complaining about is nothing but symptoms to a deeper problem.
The root of the problem starts way before the kids birth.
When a person hasn't developed healthy strategies to deal with their problems and haven't learnt to analyze themselves and developed some sort of self awareness, the kids will inherit problems thru the behaviours of the parents. The parents are even aware of their role of the kids destruction.
Is it their fault that they haven't been equipped with the tools? They were also products of their environment. We're not from a philosophical culture. Our culture is shaped from the environment where it comes from. Somalis since time had to deal with real life dangers constantly from predators, wars, hunger and diseases. If you were alive and you had family around you, you were considered blessed.
Nowadays shit is different, we got guns and technology, society has changed but not our psychology, it is still shaped from the past. That's why Somalis tend to behave the way they do.
It goes deep.
Besides, a lotta parents and kids in the west cannot be saved because they don't wanna be saved, so just let them be.
All you can control is yourself. Go deep within yourself and be really honest on your own toxic ways of thinking. Some people don't know that the most toxic person they know is themselves and the victim of it is usually themselves aswell.
You can ask your parents and friends what qualities they see from you, what they like about you and what they dislike about you. Figure out your strengths and weaknesses. Learn about nonviolent communication. Study a little bit about behavior psychology. Take some personality tests to gain some clarity on yourself. And just learn about yourself. It will inspire those around you to do the same once they see you become more self assured of yourself.
Living life on autopilot is straight gambling with yourself and your next generation.
