In a statement issued on Sunday after talks with Galmudug President Ahmed Abdi Kariye in Diamond city. James said that this project will booast Galmudug's local econmy, and will provide easier access for ships to dock in Hobyo. He pointed that the jetty port will help facilitate the export power of Galmudug. He said that it is expected that the project will be completed this summer.
Middle east monitor reports that Qatar is looking to build a new sea port in Hobyo because of its strategic location and the recent discovery of oil and gas in Galmudug. Its rival UAE is developing Berbera port.
