It's more interesting to me that all of this looks like an Agaw resurgence. Both Yodit and the "Beta Israel" rulers who supposedly followed her and the Zagwe Dynasty that followed them.

For a solid 300-400 years after Aksum's collapse Agaw speakers basically became dominant along the Highlands while the Beja seem to have become dominant along the coast. A sort of overall Cushitic resurgence until the Solomonids came along.
