Iraq’s semi-autonomous and oil-rich Kurdish region will hold a referendum on independence on Sept. 25, according to an adviser to President Massoud Barzani.

The vote will be followed by another -- for a new parliament and president -- on Nov. 6, the adviser, Kifah Mahmoud, said by phone in Erbil, the seat of the Kurdistan Regional Government. The dates were set during a meeting between Barzani and local political parties.

Falah Mustafa, who heads the KRG’s Department of Foreign Relations, said on Twitter that the plebiscite would mark the first “step towards a peaceful independence.” Other senior Kurdish officials, though, have in the past been more circumspect, arguing that the primary aim of a vote would be to ensure greater self-determination rather than outright independence.

Brave move by Jamhuuriyada Kurdistan. What a amazing tolerant people! I support their state in Iraq and In Syria, but not in Eastern Turkey. Turkey is brother nation, i will keep defending their unity(by words) aslong they defend ours by words.

Doesn't matter they need to divide the arab lands in order to conquer it whether they are Arabs is not the point.
Iraq doesn't even exist anymore, it's already been conquered.

The Turks are the ones who are probably behind this because they were refused to join the Mosul offensive by the Iraqi government.

Zionism comes in all forms doesn't necessarily mean they have to be Israeli's some American are zionists some saudis are zionists.... so they could be Turks as well who knows.

That land(kurdistan) isn't arab in the first place, iraq is just an artificial state created by the brits...the kurds deserve their independence.

Think what you want , but i've read up on Israel's plan for greater Israel and it includes dividing the Lands of Arabia up including creating Kurdistan.

I couldn't care less about the Kurds TBH. I am however anti-Kurdistan because that would be harmful to our ally Turkey.

Most of the Arabs inside Palestine are being pushed to Jordan, Egypt and Lebanon. Greater Israel would encompass those native Arab populations + expelled Palestinians. Where would they pushed these Arabs be pushed to these time?

Lots of things can happen now until the referendum.

Their security might be in risk because there might be countries that could stop this from happening.

Not good at all.

That's unfeasible. Israel's military is primarily a defensive one, they simply don't have the resources & manpower to wage a war of conquest in arab lands. They would just spread themselves too thin & they definitely won't be able to hold onto the territory they'd conquer, since they would have to deal with millions of hostile arabs...basically it would be a waste of money, time & resources for the Israelis.

Greater Israel will most likely function as an occupation , meaning their central government will be Israeli but the people don't have to necessarily be ALL jews lol they can still be arabs although they will be mistreated , targeted , and probably be victims of genocide but hey like they care , most will be forced to flee of course but those who stay will deffo get oppressed. Areas on Persia such as Afghanistan , Turkmenistan , tajikistan , Uzbekistan , Azerbaijan As well as Saudi arabia will most likely have the most people fleeing to them.

They have already occupied parts of Syria (Golan heights) and Lebanon (kulaha defence) and they don't have to lift a finger America is doing most of the work.
