Local Mogadishu leader in the 1800 implemented a climate tax

Yacquub (Abgaal) imaam Axmed in the 19th century imposed a climate tax on boats docking on Muqdisho ports to compensate for adverse weather conditions. Seems like our old leaders were climate aware.

No one gave a crap about the GREATER environment at that time (unless were talking about local trashing and such). This is a just a fee for getting the ablity to dock in the port during times of bad weather.. a common practice.

Now I wonder what muqdisho port was even like at the time, Im pretty sure the current one didnt exist and Im pretty sure muqdisho dosent have a natural harbour. Was the current port built on an older one or what

Climate tax sounds so funny just another name for gov needs more money hahaha The climate problem is so insignificant

Also can you give a link to the pdf

It is not true that no one cared about the environment the old Somalis actually had quite a lot of stipulations in their Xeer for environmental conservation and controlled use of resources

Maybe, but not for the reasons you think probably they didnt care for the environment and rightfully so. Probably because the resources were scarce and plus they wanted to control the supply to properly sell to the demand. Environmental Conversation on a local scale to look pretty and not a trashy town of course existed. But not in the manor of modern climate stuff you know..

What do you mean 'modern climate stuff'? There is no substantial difference between the past and now except that now we have more tech and leverage to do stuff
