Maps

Quick question guys,

Who and how do maps get regulated?

I am currently flying back home from a business trip. I saw this last week when I was flying to Missouri and few times last month. Major US airlines use flight aware. Here flight aware is powered by Mapbox which in tern significant portion of it comes from OSM (Open Street Map).

I don't want to get to technical as I am on my phone but talk about qashin of an accuracy.

I remember seeing dashed lines in a map between Somalia and Ethiopia I think its cuz they do not know for sure who it belongs to. Though at the end of the day its Somali territory,

What does the dashed dots mean? It's not even the reality on the ground.
Probably disputed territory. Meaningless as it’s not an ‘official map’ and not how the UN or other world bodies view it. To them Somalia is one country regardless of any propaganda.
