I ask this question because white America is going crazy over this disgusting story...

http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/01/politics/joe-biden-hunter-beau/

Basically, Vice President Joe Biden's son is dating his daughter-in-law/other son's widow.

We know this is Islamically permissable (not the dating, but marriage), question is would you do it? Why or why not?

And since everyone loves pics...

No, I won't have sloppy seconds :hova:
There are two situations this would apply to you (female?)

Either your sister dies and you marry her husband, possibly raising her kids

Or your husband dies and you marry his brother, your kids will be raised by their uncle

Neither situation works for you?

Disturbing practice. I threw a genuine fit on here when I learned Somalis do this, like as a custom:drakelaugh:

If you're gonna f*ck brothers wara ba'd why wait till one of them is dead as excuse? :cosbyhmm::comeon:

It is awkward but honourable. Raising your nieces and nephews instead of a stranger raising them.

My last point there being. I would put good money on their having screwed while the brother was alive.

I agree but it would be difficult for me. I don't think a woman needs a husband as much as in previous eras to raise a family so I can't see myself ever doing it. Props to whoever does do it though. It would be great for the kids. It's like daddy back from the dead. :russ:

It's called dumaal in Somali and it's a completely normal tradition; helps keep a family intact especially suffering loss and trauma of a loved one which is a father/husband.

It's an honorable tradition which ensures the safety of the deceased's family.

One thing Westerners find difficult about this is the sex element. To them all marriage constitutes is what goes on under the sheets. The illogical (and funny) thing is, most would be far more comfortable with a stranger porking their widow than their own flesh and blood.

If you're healthy and see marriage as more than some bedroom action, this custom will be more palatable. It might be slightly outdated for people living in the West, but it's still valuable in remote destinations within Somalia.
