I have not spoken on this and might as well throw in my two cents.
This is what happens when you vote a warlord to do your bidding. The entire old guard from Hawiye and Darood know this man very well. This isn’t a war between states, but a war between Odays and untapped oil resources.
This old sport threatened to capture Garowe, and stirred up a hornets nest the African Union aren’t prepared to face.
This is about the Nugaal Oil Basin and nothing more.
Daroods have lost Ogadenias gas fields to Ethiopians and almost lost the Jubbas offshore to Kenya.
The Nugaal oil block might be the spiritual offering that unites Hawiye and Darood in the short-term on resource protection. This isn’t 2004, Puntland has matured and doesn’t only have the support of Puntlanders, she has the support of Somalia and Non-Darood Somalilanders.
There are no winners or losers when Somalis fight; Just spectators who profit from our misery. 2018-2020 will be the 24 months Reer Sool and Sanaag can’t flip flop every again.
Tribal politics is its saddest when it affects a homogeneous State.
