I was watching this documentary on Netflix about this lady in Mexico who is living the simple lifestyle her Aztec (or Mayan?) ancestors lived. She makes her own clothes and lives off the land. She lamented about how many people in her village have left and are chasing the modern lifestyle.
This makes me think about Somalia. Yes, there are certain issues caused by climate issues, poverty and political instability, but I still believe a "simple" lifestyle is well within the reach of many Somalis in more stable areas.
For instance, many tahriibis who go through Libya to reach Europe have to pay high amounts of money to Libyan traffickers, around $30,000 or so.. which normal Somali family can afford to pay such a large amount of money? I am 100% convinced that many Somalis have been infected with unrealistic dreams due to social media.
Sometimes I think that Somalia needs to become like China which limits and controls media content because most people are easily programmed and brainwashed.
I would especially argue for extreme internet controls in regards to ography which causes clear mental illnesses and extreme perversions.
