Medieval Somali cavalrymen

Below I’ve sent two pictures, one of a mounted cavalryman with a heavily armoured horse, and the second picture is one of a Somali armoured cavalryman in chainmail, carrying a spear and a shield, what I’d like to know is, was chainmail armour produced in Somalia during the Middle Ages or was it imported from other lands, and my last question is, why did this die out among Somalis in the later centuries?

Guns.
Guns made armour obsolete

We still see many countries around with armoured cavalry well into the 18th century, but with Somalis it seems to have died out way way earlier, also was chainmail armour imported or locally produced?
Guns were widely used in the 16th century in the Horn of Africa.

Both depends on the period and location.

However being a blacksmith was looked down upon as a profession in somalia so its kind of died out faster and didnt gain much originality or amazing craftsmanship since being a craftsman in general wasn't a profession that was valued for whatever reason by somalis back then
