I feel like the beauty standard for women in Somalia is changing.
Like back in the day tall, maariin and fit used to be the desired look but now they wanna look unnaturally white with stained teeth and overweight. I'm not mocking the women back home but it's just really interesting to see that they view that as more beautiful

Nahh Fat women have always been desired. Now however they shame fat women, Bc they’re more exposed to western ideals. Back then and even now in places like badiyo fat is seen as a good thing.

Modern day somali beauty standards have nothing to do with eurocentric standard lmao stop using Europeans as a scapegoat. It's the wannabe-arab mentality that is making us hate ourselves. I mean just look at the most successful somali models in the west, they're all tall, dark and slander similar to the old beauty standard that our ancestors had.

It’s really sad, so many women back home have that over bleached look and I’m not sure why they find the stained teeth attractive; I know some of them stain their teeth intentionally with coal because they find it beautiful. I think they find overweight attractive because it comes with having a huge ass and boobs and you see so many Somali women back home that pose provocatively with their assets sticking out. When Somali fobs reach Europe, they’re quick to marry white people due to colourism but alhamdullilah Somalis in the west don’t have that mentality.

I would say- light skin in modern Somalia is highly prized. Actually it was always desired, but Diana creme is a modern invention. Tall Xaliimo is still desired tho,
