Money Transfer Companies Should Use Proper Geographical Labels

Now that the FGS is beginning to hold companies accountable for undermining the country's sovereignty and for how they display cities within Somalia, I believe it’s also time for money transfer companies to follow suit and remove the "SL" label.

Here is a brief list of some offenders:

The FGS should also require these companies to use the correct geographical classification and address this issue that has been overlooked for far too long.

If they want to continue trading in Somalia and not have their permits pulled, they should know their place.Their owners are practical business men and they will tow the line if pressured by the Federal government.

Successive governments in Mogadishu been very lenient with the separatists instead of utilising their power to reign them in. The separatists have overplayed their hand with the Ethiopian MOU shenanigans which is forcing the Xamar government to finally act.

Hopefully this is just the beginning.

This sentiment is very real. No one used to care about the one-sided hatred, but people have now had enough of the constant aggression. We have allowed this circus to continue for far too long.

As part of the debt relief efforts, regulated financial systems were introduced across Somalia. Many money transfer services and banks are now registered with the Central Bank of Somalia, and their licenses can be easily revoked if necessary.

Hormuud (the largest mobile money service provider in Somalia) operates under different brand names in various parts of the country. For example, Wordremit couldn’t send a penny back to Somalia without the cooperation and approval of Hormuud.

And while it’s true that these companies hold significant influence in Somali politics, FGS now has the power to enforce compliance, should these companies wish to continue providing services to the public.

Here is a list of registered banks and mobile local money transfer services. This list is probably not comprehensive and definitely not up to date, as usual. You might also notice that those primarily 'online' money transfer services I listed in my original post are not on the CBS list. Their main base of operations is not in Somalia, but they have partnerships with companies like Hormuud, which helps facilitate cross-border payment settlements.

By the way, this isn't about frivolously targeting any specific clan or company. If you operate any business within Somali borders, you are legally required to adhere to the regulations set by the country’s only official authority (FGS). Undermining the sovereignty of Somalia is illegal. I dont know what to tell you, If you can't understand why this is important.

What is this gonna change? Some companies will comply with the FGS other companies will just abandon the Somali market. All in all it doesn't change the fact that Somaliland is going to get it's independence.

You just mad because SL exposed your hollow, paper state, sending out cease and desists.
Airlines aren't going to make those decisions before their states do and then you will start crying at the UN about illegal flights.

My advice to you, make Somalia a real country. You all gatther just to hate and destroy but never build a country for yourselves.
