she was an afghan national who fled from the taliban, her mother simply neglected to mention she was born in Iran. it wouldnt have made a difference to their refugee status if she did

Lying in documents is immigration fraud. Her passport says she's born in Afghanistan. Her mother lied to the government

It matters because you're claiming that she LIED about her birthplace when the matter of the fact is that she DIDN'T KNOW about her birthplace. Yes immigration fraud happens but I've never heard of anybody being deported because of it so cite your sources hun.

No you didn't, your headline clearly reads that the minister herself was "caught lying" and committing "immigration fraud" and it doesn't affect her since she didn't fill out the documents so she didn't lie on the documents/applications so she won't be held accountable, her mother may suffer consequences but I doubt that they will get deported since that's a clear violation of their human rights, they've (including the mother) spent almost their entire life in Canada so deportation is out the question.
