Must read: Don't Miss the 27th Night – It Could Be Laylatul Qadr

We are deep into the last ten nights, and tonight, the 27th, could be Laylatul Qadr. There’s strong evidence for it, and the Prophet ﷺ told us to seek it especially on this night. Imagine standing in front of Allah on the Day of Judgment and realizing you let a night better than 83 years pass without taking advantage of it. That’s why you don’t sleep on this night—this could be the one.

Even if the last 26 days and nights of Ramadan weren’t the best for you, it doesn’t matter now. The Salaf would prepare for this night as if their entire Ramadan depended on it. They knew that whatever they did tonight could change their entire destiny. If Allah has written forgiveness, mercy, and Jannah for you tonight, then nothing in this world is more important.

And don’t let guilt stop you. Even if you’ve wasted the whole month, Allah’s mercy is greater. The Prophet ﷺ said, "Whoever stands in prayer on Laylatul Qadr with faith and seeking reward, his past sins will be forgiven." That includes major and minor sins—imagine wiping away years of mistakes in one night.

The biggest mistake people make is thinking they need to do something huge. It’s not about how much, it’s about sincerity. Here’s what you can do even if you feel weak:

Make Dua – Ask Allah for everything. Forgiveness, guidance, protection from sin. The Prophet ﷺ taught us: اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي “O Allah, You are the Most Forgiving, You love to forgive, so forgive me.” Say it again and again.

Read Qur’an – Even if it’s a few verses. Every letter tonight could be multiplied beyond 1,000 months of reward.

Dhikr – Keep your tongue wet with SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar. Every moment counts.

Pray 2 Rak’ahs – Even if you can’t stand long, just two sincere rak’ahs could be enough to turn your entire life around.

Give Charity – Even a small amount. Imagine if Laylatul Qadr is tonight and your charity is counted as if you gave continuously for 1,000 months.

Repent Sincerely – If there’s one night to beg Allah to wipe your sins clean, it’s this one. Even if you’ve fallen into sin a thousand times, ask again. Allah’s mercy is greater than any sin.

Even the weakest person can do these things. Don’t overthink it—just do something. This could be the night that changes your life forever.

Practical Steps to Make the Most of the 27th Night

Even if you feel weak or unmotivated, there are simple actions you can do that will allow you to grasp the immense reward of Laylatul Qadr.

1. Make Sincere Dua

Ask Allah for forgiveness, mercy, and protection from Hellfire.

Make dua for your guidance, your family, and for all Muslims.

Say the dua the Prophet ﷺ taught for this night:
اللَّهُمَّ إِنَّكَ عَفُوٌّ تُحِبُّ الْعَفْوَ فَاعْفُ عَنِّي
“O Allah, You are the Most Forgiving, You love to forgive, so forgive me.”

2. Recite the Qur’an

Even if you can’t read a lot, recite whatever you can with sincerity.

If you struggle with Arabic, read the English translation and reflect on its meanings.

Focus on Surah Al-Qadr (97) and Surah Al-Ikhlas (112), as they are short yet powerful.

3. Engage in Dhikr (Remembrance of Allah)

Keep your tongue constantly moving with SubhanAllah, Alhamdulillah, Allahu Akbar, and La ilaha illa Allah.

Send abundant salawat (peace and blessings) upon the Prophet ﷺ.

Repeat Astaghfirullah (I seek Allah’s forgiveness) as much as possible.

4. Perform Extra Prayers (Qiyam al-Layl / Tahajjud)

If you can, stand for prayer during the night.

Even if it’s just two rak‘ahs, do them sincerely and make long sujood.

If you are able, pray Witr and ask Allah for whatever you desire.

5. Give Charity (Sadaqah)

Donate whatever you can, even if it’s a small amount.

Try to give to causes that help the poor, orphans, and those in need.

Remember, charity on Laylatul Qadr could be multiplied as if given for 1,000 months.

6. Sincerely Repent to Allah (Tawbah)

Acknowledge your sins and ask Allah to forgive you completely.

Make a commitment to leave sins behind and strive to be better.

Know that Allah’s mercy is greater than any sin you have committed.

These actions don’t require a lot of effort, but their rewards are unimaginable. Whether you can do all of them or just a few, the key is to do them with sincerity. Even the smallest act of worship on this night can be life-changing.
