During the Eritrean independence struggle, the Eritrean #EPLF fighters used the city of #Nakfa as a base to fight and wage Guerilla warfare against the Ethiopian occupational army. After #Eritrea gained independence, the Eritrean Currecny was named after the city of Nakfa.
