Many Somalis rely on qabil for their daily needs since the federal government is too weak and inept to provide for them, its really as simple as that. Once Somalia develops more and stablizes you will see qabil away fade in relevance.

At its core, nationalism with its beliefs comes into direct conflict with basic tenets of Islam, so does tribalism (not tribe). For instance, in Islam, the only unity is that of Islam, and there could be no unity along borders, colour, language, or ethnicity. With that, nationalism contradicts Islam, ergo the reason its proponents advocate for secularism. Besides, for Somalis, this is a phase, say 17th century Europe.

How about a civilised society, one with no tribal militias that slaughter each other over mere words. A society that isn’t fragmented into a million different factions that makes their “citizens” lives miserable. A society that puts aside their differences and actually creates a nation that thrives, one that you can be proud of.

I grew up in the west spent some time back home I visited a lot of places in somaliweyne. A good chunk of young people think the same way you do. Qabil is just a useful tool to them(family, protection, food, and opportunity). If there was an equal and strong system in place who on earth would give a f*ck about it. It would be family/lineage but other then that what would there be to faan about.

Ghe most patriotic cadaan countries are the Balkans. They live in the West as refugees like you

Europe was fighting wars for centuries whilst Somalia was relatively peaceful. Just gotta Find a system and stick to it
