tl;dr

They've inferred that an early European-related back migration after the Asian split introduced Human/Neanderthal hybridization into the African gene pool. The researchers have based this method on a combination of empirical data with simulated models of observed genetic introgression with samples from matching modern African and non-African populations. The genetic frequency and length of overlapping genes in the sequences resulted in strong positive hominin signals, which correlated with the ancestrally European-related introgression previously thought to be nonexistent.

West Africans have around 14% iberomaurusian ancestry which explains the neanderthal dna
It's 33% on average compared to the European, indirect Iberomarusian admixture does not sufficiently explain this high amount because of the strong negative selection. Also, the specific introgression coalescent time was before the Iberomarusian.

They previously used African genomes as 'null' when comparing European and Asian archaic genes. Thus the Asian hominin level showed 20% enrichment when it was only 8%. This tells us that the Neanderthal genes in the Africans were from an early European-like lineage because of evident overlapping.

The African genome even contained some stretches not found in Eurasians and some higher frequencies uniquely expressed.

Which european-like lineage are they referring to?

They mentioned 'ancestral Europeans,' but the modern-day Europeans are of three-components.

Before the neolithic demic-cultural diffusion from Anatolia into Europe, the EEF ancestors would be considered Near Eastern, so maybe they mean a group similar to European hunter-gatherers? But this speculation is too reliant on their use of semantics as there isn't any specific information provided yet.
