A prominent pro-Russian guerilla commander has been assassinated in the self-proclaimed Donetsk People’s Republic, according to local officials.

Thirty-six-year-old Mikhail Tolstykh, better known by his nom-de-guerre Givi, was reportedly killed on Wednesday morning.

In the spring of 2014, he joined the rebel forces and led a guerrilla battalion codenamed “Somali”.
His unit took part in many of the fiercest battles in the Ukrainian conflict, including the siege of the Donetsk airport. Tolstykh was also accused of mistreating Ukrainian prisoners and was sanctioned by the European Union.

The exact nature of the assassination is still unclear, but multiple, unverified reports have emerged of an explosion in Tolstykh’s office. Insurgents have already blamed his death on Ukrainian operatives.

For those of you that don't know him, he reached global fame after this video, were he picked up bullets just fired at them and bombs going off not flinching while coolly smoking cigarette while his mates duck for cover as jets hover.

He was a big fan of the Somali rebel movements and resistance particularly against America and named his entire guerrilla battalion fighting the government after them.

Sparta and the Somali Battalion.

Lol I was wondering why the battalion was called that. Do you have more information regarding this?

That's the only info, apparently some of these man's fathers in the USSR Era met the Somali generals and trained with them C/Yusuf, Ceydiid, Barre and others leaving a lasting legacy.

They loved the fearlessness, when they have their khaat and fighting for their warlords, even those NISA/ALPHA groups trained, I was reading an American special forces dude reporting the same about them, the best and most fearless he trained.

When Liido was under siege by Al-Shabab, these guys don't do standard procedures, secure the perimeter, safety first and that malarky.

They storm the place straight putting everything at risk, no stun grenades or smoke which they view as cowardly, hence terrorists are cleared rapidly consistently and quick when they take over building.

This along with black hawk down were regularly shown in the soviets states hence they grew to love us. Keep in mind NISA/ALPHA are selected from all regions, they of course don't know how extremely qabiilist we are.

Some users on a military subreddit noticed this behaviour when they watched the Ceel Cadde battle footage. I read it a while back, they were surprised that these guys weren't ducking and hiding for cover, rather they just walked across the field. They tried to say it was some African thing looooool, I wouldn't imagine any other africans behaving like that lol.
