NY times, historical thread on oil

if anyone has a subscription to NYT, here’s some articles I found relating to oil in the Somali peninsula. Dates back to the 1950s, interestingly enough we had oil companies operating which siad nationalised. Did this move delay extraction?

Sinclair oil is the reason Galbeed is controlled by Ethiopia.
It goes deeper than that, America was afraid of communism; they just allowed the seeds of war to ferment between us and Ethiopia. Ethiopia has always been the aggressor in all wars we fought, their leaders greed to rule free people from their serf kingdom, to loot and pillage hard earned goods from fair folks, tbf they probably had nothing of value to loot.

Nationalisation is always a good move, privatisation is anti the general populace
