Yes Yemen has oil but it is tiny amounts. Gaajo runs through that country. Likewise Somaliland and Puntland doesn't have oil.

Somalia's real and verified oil is in Galmudug coast. We are talking about billions here but would take at-least 200 million invest to take it out.

Anything can happen, you just gotta make it happen. Which is much easier said than done. In one of my scholarship essays, they asked me to write a 10 year plan, and writing it made me realize how much of a potential somalia has to grow in the next ten years.

I ended up actually writing a beautiful essay and I genuinely believe I can get all those things done in 10 years, just watch out, you're about to see big moves.

We haven't done a lot of exploration it's been very sporadic and there was not a big effort to be honest.

However if UAE thinks it could take it over then we'll need to take custody of the islands to ensure Socotra's sovereignty...

That's true you are right but what if they never looked for it.

An Island can not have oil only a mainland can have oil. If they drill in that island right now they'll hit ocean water. You have to go very deep for oil which makes it very unlikely for that happen.
An island is basically formed by a hot volcano lava touching ocean water cooling down becoming a rock and then sitting on the sea bed. It continues and stacks up until it becomes an island.
