Oil will be a rare commodity soon. People will be able to set their own prices. Its good to know we kept oil and other resources underground. We would've become another middle east.

But oil drilling will go ahead. It can't always remain underground. I try to be optimistic but I feel like we're going to see a cycle of war from.all angles thirsty for our oil

This is exploration drilling... Which has been done before.

Two exploratory wells in Sool didn't yield positive results back in 2011/2012 by the Lund family-owned Horn Petroleum (based out of Canada).

I remember because it was the first stock investment I ever made and I lost ~70% of my investment lol.

I feel like there's more oil drilling to do but because of the mou deal and laascaanod situation it makes it hard for anything more to be done.

Somalis need to get the technology and autonomy first otherwise what makes you think ajnabi won't plunder us for oil like they do fish and other stuff

There’s oil in SL, but I don’t think it’s enough to completely change the dynamics of the place. Also a lot of it is in border regions which just makes exploration so sketchy.

The Nugaal valley blocks are pretty weak too I’ve heard. There’s oil there but it’s not the good stuff. I think honestly our best bet is offshore/galmudug.

I'm talking about Somaliland. Oil drilling outside S-land will benefit Somalia which is good but it won't benefit Somaliland. We need to focus on those regions they posted where there's a higher chance of oil. Sadly Somali galbeed has all the oil going but is being robbed by Ethiopia. Not benefiting any Somalis. That honestly upsets me.

Offshore is preferable. The infrastructure build-out happens outside the country (Ship/Drilling rigs are assembled in East Asia and operated by international teams). It's the quickest and least painful way to start injecting cash into the economy.

Look at Guyana, it only took them 4-5 years from discovery to producing > 100,000 barrels a day, and that's with COVID restrictions. Imagine what $3-5 million dollars a day can do in such an impoverished region.

Your offshore belongs to the Turks monkey, there’ll be no shenanigans. Anyone trying offshore in Somalia besides coastline will be sunk. Ask FGS to use the oil money for develop so you can benefit through infrastructure to further your relationship with Ethiopia and uk.

I’ll be honest I really don’t think there’s much in resources in SL. I know there’s underground water reserves but that’s pretty much it. That’s what they should focus on considering there is a lack of good water in the region.

They should focus on modernisation. It’s already pretty urbanised, there’s no reason why it shouldn’t become a banking/technological/educational hub in East Africa.

Relax :ftw9nwa:. Both sides of my family are from Las Anod & Taleh, I'm not pro-SL. I was speaking generally, regardless of politics.
