Bruh we couldโ€™ve started exporting oil straight out of independence. 30 years of stable government and no fucking oil extraction. A true failure. And whatโ€™s worse is we wouldnโ€™t have suffered from Dutch manโ€™s disease cuz our agricultural industry was so small and we desperately needed money for development. And we wouldnโ€™t have been beholden to the aid of the US or Sovietโ€™s. Couldโ€™ve been Libya part 2 socialist oriented, small population large gdp per capita

Somalia back then was basically oriented/ focused in xamar and the south, the northern regions were neglected, no one knew if the north was oil rich and exploration wasnโ€™t done there.

They started very late and even then the process of oil exploration/extraction takes decades, forget that however, whatโ€™s in the past is in the past.

an independent puntland could kickstart this process in a few years and we could reap the benefits when weโ€™re in our sixties and seventies hadii Ilahay cimriga noo dheerayo, we could lay the foundations for our descendants. This oil business requires patience.

And an important disclaimer, Puntland shouldnโ€™t focus solely on oil exploration, simply should be a side project, the important business right now is construction, infrastructure maintenance, marine life conservation, mineral extractions, agricultural development etc etc.

Reer bari struck black gold that province has a lot of natural resources
Soomaaliweyn is collectivly deeply rich with natural resources. Nothing per say "shameful" with livestock and agriculture, but Inshallah we diversify our economy with other industries soon. Another sanction/drought will just send us back further
